Brookside Blast 12/8/23

Whenever we are asked to give a tour of our building to prospective students and their families, it is an honor. There are SO MANY amazing things that happen here and the opportunity to just slow down and "brag" for a moment is such a gift. Highlights include the art and student work that is constantly on display around classrooms and hallways, the good looking and smelling school lunches, joyful play on the natural playground outside, the chickens, glimpses of students snowboarding during PE, images of Lantern Parades past and the overwhelming sense of welcome and community one feels when entering this building. When discussing some of the offerings both inside and outside of the building, we share about alpine and nordic skiing opportunities, the Backpack Program, field trips, 3rd and 4th grade chorus, ECO/Outdoor Learning and so much more. Thank you for being a part of this incredible school!

At this time of year, many families consider making donations before the tax year ends. A tax-deductible gift to BPS could directly benefit our alpine ski program and/or the Backpack Program. Please consider supporting our school's ability to support enriching opportunities.

If your child is being dismissed early, PLEASE note it in pickup patrol as early as possible. Late/no notification causes a scramble for the child and the supporting adults, especially as they may be on the playground or at specials.

The office staff has seen a dramatic increase in the number of "forgotten" shoes, recorders, lunches, snacks, snowpants, mittens and the like. Most of the time, forgetting something at home is OK. We have lots of extras to support students (shoes and outdoor gear to borrow, extra snacks, hot lunch, probably a loaner recorder) and this provides a natural consequence in building and supporting student responsibility.

Have a wonderful weekend and go see Seussical Jr. at HUHS if you can!

In Partnership,

Sarah & Chris
