Brookside Blast 2/9/24

Happy 100th Day!

The BPS community celebrated the 100th day of school in a variety of ways! There are so many ways to build this milestone number, and students across the building explored 100 in different ways. This included, but was not limited to: 100-theme community snack, building 100's, challenges to complete in 100 seconds, and 100th day necklaces!

We welcomed February with our All School Morning Meeting on Wednesday. We acknowledged February birthdays, watched a video about dental hygeine, discussed stewardship of loaner shoes and outerwear (if you borrow it, please return it!) and highlighted the Lunar New Year, Black History Month and Valentine's Day.

This week, BPS will celebrate Kindness Week, with something a little special each morning at student entry. Ask your child each day how they showed kindness!

There are upcoming ski trips for students in grades 2-4 this week as well...please look for specific communication about this via Swiftreach.

Thank you for sharing your kind and creative children with us!

From the Library:

Greetings Brooksidians,

If you are not receiving a weekly email from Brookside (with my email address attached), indicating which books have been checked out to your child, let me know! Did you know we circulate about 2000 books a week? Many of the books that are checked out have been reserved for other students. I often hear "Is my book here, yet??". I count on families to support me in teaching the responsibility of borrowing books. Here are some tricks that have helped others:

  • Designate a special spot for library books (not on a bookshelf!)

  • Know your child's library day

  • Buy the books they love for their own collection!

  • Go on a "Book Hunt" (your child knows how to do this-- it involves a home safari, complete with capturing errant titles).

Please reach out if you need troubleshooting challenges. Also, a heads up that we are having a Book Fair in March!
