Brookside Blast 3/22/24

We hope that you are able to enjoy this fresh blanket (comforter?) of snow we've received! Please continue to send your child to school with snow clothes and boots for the foreseeable future!

This week's news is short and sweet, despite all of the fun being had in Ms. Burns' first grade class:

Thank you for sharing your children with us!

HUUSD REVISED SCHOOL BUDGET MEETINGS & INPUT

The HUUSD school board will be discussing a revised budget again at our next meeting.

WHEN: Wednesday, March 27 at 6:00 PM

WHERE: Harwood Union High School library or via Zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/386460007

Our finance director, superintendent, administration, and the board have been working diligently to reduce our budget for reconsideration by our community. We are considering all options and are acutely aware of the tight time frame.

Please understand that what we offered at town meeting was an extremely lean budget already, so your participation is critical. If you have input on the budgeting process, please email the board at cen-huusdboard@huusd.org. We also encourage members of the public to attend this meeting in person or via Zoom.

HUUSD board meetings begin with public comment. Thank you for your participation and interest in the process.

Sincerely,The HUUSD Board

PE News

We are currently doing a gymnastics unit in PE. Ask your Brooksider to show you some of their stunts, tumbling and balances that they have been practicing. We have also been learning skills on the high beam, rings, vault, climbing and swinging ropes, parallel and single bars. "Be Safe" is the school code emphasized during this unit. Practicing good body control greatly decreases the chance of getting injured when doing gymnastics.

We wrapped up the Kid's Heart Challenge right after the winter break. BPS students raised almost $2,000 to help save lives through research done by the American Heart Association. Thank you gifts should arrive in a couple of weeks.

Monthly Parent/Caregiver Group at Hannah's House

Our March meeting happens to be on the same night as the Online Safety Presentation, however, it will still be happening.

This is an open group for all who identify as a parent or caregiver to come together and cultivate community, mutual support, and normalize the realities that coincide with this very big job.

Available in-person or via Zoom, all are welcome. Childcare can be made available with advanced notice.

Hannah's House therapist Katie will facilitate the monthly session - on the last Tuesday of each month, 5:30-7:00pm in the 2nd Floor Conference Room at MRV Health Center, Waitsfield.
