Brookside Blast - 8/20/21

Last Friday before school starts!! We are so excited to see your students arrive next Thursday. This week, teachers have been working hard to get spaces ready for the first day of school and all staff will be back on site on Monday for three preservice days. Let's go BPS!

COVID Update

First Day of School:

  • School starts Thursday, 8/26.

  • Students may be dropped off any time between 7:30am and 7:50am.

  • Dismissal is at 2:25pm

  • Students will enter through the main entrance and go to their classrooms.

  • Breakfast will be available for pick up inside the main entrance.

  • Breakfast and lunch are free for all students again this year.

  • Due to COVID, we can only have parents on the building on a limited basis. This means you will need to drop students off outside as we did last year. We will have plenty of staff available to help students make their way to their classrooms (with the exception of PreK for the first two weeks)

  • Kindergarten teachers will meet families outside for the first couple of days and classes will walk in together with their teachers

Pick Up Patrol

You should have received login information for Pick Up Patrol with a request to establish your child(ren)'s default plans. Please take care of this as soon as possible to ensure a smooth dismissal for all! Please reach out to Michele Ballard if you need support with this mballard@huusd.org

Art

Ms. Wells, our new Art teacher has put together this website for you. It will help you get to know her and gain an understanding of what students will be doing throughout the year. It is also linked on the BPS website. Check back often for updates!

Communication

As you may have noticed in our first communication of the year, the weekly FYI’s are now called the Brookside Blast. We will send this each Friday so that you have all of the timely information you need. It will be linked under the “Quick Links” section of our school website. The most recent edition will also show up under “News and Events “. Community Events will be housed under the “News and Events” section as well. A link will also be provided for Community Events at the end of each Brookside Blast. Our goal is to give you timely and important information as well as make it easy to find if you need to refer back to it.
